How to see through an incompetent supervisor who only talks big?

A few days ago, I had a heart-to-heart talk with a friend from the professional industry. From what I understand, she greets everyone with a smile and thinks positively about everything. She can’t deal with any complicated cases or difficult clients. Her dedication to her clients is beyond human. With his imagination, he can not only draw the departmental organization chart of the client’s company and find out who has the power to make decisions, but he can even figure out the family organization chart and family relationships of the client’s decision-maker. I remember one time, I talked about a young noble lady who became friends with us after doing business for a long time. Sometimes she was also willing to help pick up and drop off the lady’s baby son. What’s even more amazing is that she even made a profit from the transaction of the real estate owned by the lady. Compensation can be explained one by one, just like a group of real estate speculators.

The less powerful a supervisor is, the easier it is for him to interfere with his subordinates

This super industry has a special feature. She only wants to do business and get performance bonuses. As for the company’s management positions, she has no interest at all. Taking orders is the joy of her life. Since she controls customers and performance, any high-ranking official who comes from the air would want to get involved in her network. She originally thought that the new supervisor would be helpful to her business, but she didn’t expect that it would only increase the interference, and even pointed out and said, She did more than she did, and often casually talked about new cases. She didn’t want to make a mistake, so she had to keep silent, which made the new supervisor feel good about herself. Later, when she couldn’t sell, she pointed out that she was not working hard. Sometimes she got a million-dollar order, but Being said to be a low-priced product, the performance has increased slightly, but it is required to be doubled. This not only damages morale but also interferes with enthusiasm.

Fortunately, she has an open mind. Anyway, the strength of senior officials will eventually come to light. After that, the boss recognized the facts and replaced people. During the transition process, he still relied on her and a few super industry professionals to consolidate the situation, although she was willing to switch. I was in the mood to face a new high-ranking official again, but the result was a replay of the plot of “a flowing official and a soldier fighting with iron”.

Looking up but not down, and looking outward but not inward, are all signs of being overly ambitious but lacking practical ability.

I have met several senior officials who are “showy”. What they all have in common is that they are all self-righteous and “talk the talk.” They usually have the following characteristics: First, they impose the success factors of foreign unicorns or star companies. In my own company, I can speak clearly, but I don’t know that different countries, different economic environments, and different consumer behaviors should have different business strategies. Second, find some well-known people or consultants to provide some insight into the transformation they want to make, and the proposed adjustment plan. At first glance, it seems reasonable, legal, and compliant. Who knows, these outsiders have not yet understood the company’s operating procedures? , how can we judge how insiders should adjust?

Thirdly, he always criticizes others for their big mistakes, but he can’t explain the right thing to do. He just wants to climb up by stepping on others; fourthly, he doesn’t know what to do or what to do at all. to increase the sense of presence, he led a group of people in circles and held meetings desperately. Colleagues had no choice but to cooperate with the performance. After the meeting, they dispersed in a hurry, with no conclusion, and no one knew when and what should be completed.

When this circle gets bigger and bigger, corporate resources are wasted. The worst thing is that when mistakes are made, they deliberately find a scapegoat to serve as a backstop for the boss to pursue him.

While seeing through the “hype” of high-ranking officials, don’t forget to encourage those working hard below.

Since bosses usually don’t stare at their supervisor every day, how can they tell whether he is “all appearances”? “Intention” is very important. When he says something extravagant, be sure to ask him to commit to quantified goals, and then you can verify whether he is practical. When he says he wants to do a case, be sure to ask him to commit to a timetable to see if he is pragmatic. When he is unable to fulfill his promise, ask him to explain the reason. For example, if he often says he will get 100 points, but in the end he only achieves 10 points. It’s someone else’s fault, which is enough to prove that he has accomplished nothing. The boss should change his team early.

To sum up, no matter whether they are high-ranking officials or subordinates, they are all versatile in all kinds of martial arts, but they must not be incompetent on paper. I respect those who “roll up their sleeves and do things”, only then can they accumulate the experience of actual combat and implementation. Experience will eventually lead to a secure position in a high position. On the contrary, a person who “opens his mouth” will hardly have the strength and will eventually be eliminated. I would like to advise the big bosses to see the true face of high-ranking officials as soon as possible. When dealing with “foolish officials”, please give more affirmation and care to “iron soldiers”.
