If you only regard “The Poor Things” (2023) as a female coming-of-age movie, then you are likely to miss the core spirit of this movie-civilization is developed through human beings’ continuous experiments and adventures. Gain growth and stability. And those so-called “poor things” are people who are unable to accept the spirit of experimentation and adventure and who set limits on themselves. In this way, even though they have the appearance of adults, they have not yet reached mental maturity. Judging from the content of the movie, those who are still guarding authoritarianism and Selfish men are usually this type of childish human being.

“Poor Thing” is directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and written by Tony McNamara. This is the second collaboration between Lanthimos and McNamara.
