Many people say that scholar-lords are born and ordinary children cannot learn from them.

In fact, behind every academic success is hard work and the influence of the family environment.

A few days ago, when I was chatting with my aunt, I accidentally learned that my cousin who graduated from a prestigious school now earns more than 5000 dollars a month.

This is undoubtedly the ceiling level for office workers in ordinary families.

Just like this, everyone is even more aware of the difference between those with diplomas and those without diplomas

There are even relatives who go to their aunts to seek advice on educating children to cultivate scholar-lords like their cousins.

One time, I happened to meet my cousin who was home to visit relatives, and we all got together to have dinner.

When talking about learning issues at that time, my cousin said something like this:

“For what I have achieved today, the person I should be most grateful to is my mother.”

“When I was a kid, I gave up more than once. I didn’t want to go to school or do my homework when I was in school. My favorite trick was to pretend to be sick and have a stomach ache. My mother knew there was something fishy about it. You also gently encouraged me to hold on a little longer, you are great.”

“Later, I overcame the difficulties, and studying was no longer so strenuous. My mother’s encouragement and persistence corrected my attitude and helped me regain my confidence and study harder.”

After listening to this, I am even more certain: 30% of it is destiny, 70% of it depends on hard work, and my child’s status as a top student is also achieved through “practice”

In particular, if you help your children practice the following skills more, they will avoid many detours in their studies:

1. Practice awareness

I want to learn a lot of knowledge

Whether a child can become a top student must have enough awareness of learning

So what is learning consciousness? To put it simply and popularly: “I want to learn, I want to learn a lot of knowledge.”

Don’t take it seriously. If a child has this awareness, he will be a dark horse once he understands it, and his learning will also change by leaps and bounds.

That’s what happened to my aunt’s cousin

At the beginning of my studies, apart from the fear of “I don’t want to do homework”, the biggest problem was laziness.

An assignment that can be completed in 30 minutes takes 2 or 3 hours to complete.

Then there are aunts urging and cousins annoying. The mother and son are also trapped in a tense parent-child relationship.

After some time, my aunt gradually understood: “Hard-working children are not made by pushing them.”

Especially in a parent-teacher meeting, the teacher kept reminding: “Attitude = learning, what attitude do you use towards learning, what kind of results will the learning show?”

The top priority for lazy people is to have a strong sense of learning

To help her cousin find a sense of learning, in addition to daily encouragement and persistence, her aunt also asked her cousin to set a learning goal for herself.

for example:

Who comes to school earlier every day with your deskmate?

Compete with the team leader to see who has the most wrong homework questions

Compare this with the study committee member who listens more carefully in class

Compete with the monitor to see who has made the greatest progress in the exam

In this way, as he achieved goal breakthroughs again and again, his heart was filled with learning energy.

This is the importance of learning consciousness. It is like an alarm clock, subconsciously reminding you what you should and should not do.

Therefore, the first step in developing a scholar-lord is to help children establish learning awareness

Start with parents’ encouragement and slowly help your children establish a goal of “Who do I want to surpass?”

Under the influence of goals, children will become more active and learn more effectively.

2. Practice observation

What are the changes that are close to you?

If a person wants to become better, strong awareness is the first step, and then he becomes sensitive to this goal.

If you can easily control this step, you can see everything no matter what environment you are in.

But the fact is that no one can face failure calmly, and no one can easily control failure. This requires stronger inner strength to counteract it.

I remember that when my cousin first started to set goals, if he could easily surpass others, he would be very happy. Once he was overtaken by others, he would feel depressed and discouraged.

Sometimes they just show off and say: “Forget it, it’s meaningless anyway. If you are surpassed, just surpass it.”

After hearing this, her aunt wanted to criticize her, but after looking at her cousin’s Buddhist expression, she began to analyze and said:

“It seems meaningless, but do you know? Competing with your classmates to get to school earlier is not about time, but if you can get to school ten minutes early, you can read ten minutes more in the morning. This is what you The learning energy that can surpass other students, the ability to answer questions incorrectly, the ability to listen carefully in class, and who has made greater progress in exams are all the same.”

To make her cousin believe this, she also thoughtfully guided her cousin to record the tasks he completed every day and the goals he exceeded.

After some time, if you take a look at all the progress, you can see the value of “small goals gathering big results”

Having said this, I suddenly thought of a way to make money that a businessman once shared.

he told me:

“No matter what kind of environment you are in, if you want to get business opportunities, you need to closely observe the changes closest to you. If your ambitions are too high and your goals are too far from the beginning, what will crush you is often not the loss of no business. It’s because you don’t see any hope and are unable to make changes. In the end, you have no choice but to resign yourself to your fate and wait for the result.”

This is the maintenance of self-awareness in the ability of observation. This is also indispensable for raising children with the style of Scholar-lord.

Just like the reason why a person cannot withstand failure is not because of how fragile they are, but because they give up when they see no hope. Why bother to struggle when they know there is no result…

But the fact is that all bad situations that are not what you want are not the end yet.

The same goes for children reading

Start with small goals and observe the progress and changes closest to you. As long as the confidence is still there and the child is working hard to change himself, excellence will naturally be just around the corner.

3. Practice thinking

Is there any way to change the current situation?

The first step for a child to become better is to think. It is important to do this well.

Next to me, there is another student who is as good as my cousin. She is the daughter of a relative of a colleague in the company.

Since elementary school, I have always been among the best in studies, first in the class and among the top ten in grade.

In the assessment for promotion from primary school to junior high school, he was admitted to a key middle school in the city with excellent results.

This is very rare in local schools. It is a source of pride in the eyes of teachers, a strong academic in the eyes of classmates, and even more so in the eyes of parents.

“Other people’s children”

Many people think that this is someone who is “born to study “ and they can become a master naturally without having to worry about it.

But in fact, a girl’s learning path is not as smooth as others think.

Looking back on her past studies, she was discouraged and gave up more than once:

“Mom, I’m so tired.”

“Mom, I don’t want to do my homework anymore.”

“Mom, can I take a break?”

Faced with this kind of weak consciousness and wanting to give up, if it were other parents, they would probably be criticized, accusing their children of being too lazy, or questioning: “What’s so tiring about studying?”

But the girl’s mother is just the opposite. She clearly understands the psychological state of a child who is tired of studying. It is a kind of helplessness, anxiety, and uneasiness that wants to work hard but can’t.

To help her daughter resolve her anxiety, she said this:

If you are just tired and want to take a short break, this is normal, but if we are worried about not doing well or not wanting to do it and avoid it, then the efforts that could have been made to a higher level will be in vain, just like You originally thought you could only score 80 points, but after more careful reading and thinking, you got 5 points more than expected. This is the meaning of a correct attitude. What kind of attitude you use to study will eventually gain you. “results”

Later, under the constant guidance of her mother, every time the girl encountered difficulties and felt discouraged, she would think: “What should I do?” and “What can I do?”

The power of action generated by this combination of thinking is very targeted. Wherever you fall, you can get up and continue to work hard.

It can also be seen from this point that the reason why some children become Scholar-lord is not because of their high IQ, but because they have confidence, energy, and how to think in learning.

In this way, children will spend more time and energy on learning.

4. Practice habits

It’s best to finish today’s things today

Habits can dominate life and achieve success in life. This kind of energy is exactly reflected in the top academics.

A mother once shared that her daughter was always half a beat behind others when she was in elementary school. Either she couldn’t do the homework or she couldn’t understand the questions at all.

Coupled with the fact that he likes to be playful and lazy, his grades are almost at the bottom of the class.

She and her father were extremely anxious about this, but the child didn’t care at all.

Especially when faced with parents’ concerns about their studies, they often said impatiently: “How many points you get on the exam means nothing. If others do well in the exam, it has nothing to do with me.”

Later, because my daughter bullied other children at school, the school often called to complain. Even the teacher seemed to have no expectations for this “bad student”.

Faced with such a normal situation, the mother naturally cannot get used to it, but she cannot give up either.

Therefore, she began to pay attention to reading with her daughter when she was in third grade. No matter how busy or tired she was when she came home from get off work every day, she never stopped reading with her daughter.

Even if she is not at home because of something, she will still ask her daughter to read the contents of the book to her by talking on the phone.

At first, my daughter will think it’s unnecessary: “Forget it if I’m not at home, it’s no big deal to read it again next time.”

But my mother said firmly: “That won’t work. Reading is like eating. If you don’t read for a while, you will panic.”

Later, in order to better tutor her daughter in her studies, she bought a complete set of study materials and practiced and summarized them like a student every day.

It is precisely this attitude of learning from beginning to end that has helped cultivate a good attitude of “finishing everything today” from my daughter who doesn’t want to do homework or think.

In the end, although I still didn’t get admitted to the prestigious university I had set my sights on after working hard, achieving such results exceeded many people’s expectations.

This is also the meaning of developing and practicing habits. As long as children have good habits, they will continue to produce more positive energy for learning.

Studying is indeed like eating. Even if you don’t eat one meal, you won’t be hungry, but you can’t withstand the lack of food and clothing that accumulates over time.

If you don’t want to learn to be as “malnourished” as your body, the easy secret to becoming a top student is: “Digest the day’s study on the same day, and try not to leave problems overnight.”

If there are still some difficulties after learning, observing, and thinking, there is no need to worry too much. Guide the children to circle them with a red pen and bring them to school to ask the teacher the next day.

You don’t procrastinate when you know how to answer questions, and you can ask the teacher in time for questions you don’t know. This is what a top student should look like.

So, regarding the fact that academic excellence requires “practice”, do you have any different suggestions and opinions?
