The Surprising Truth about Showing Off
There is a word called “destroy a talent by praising it too much.”, which means praising a person excessively, and the final result is to be harmed by this person.
Everyone has their advantages and disadvantages. Don’t praise others’ advantages too much, and don’t be too harsh on others’ shortcomings.
The more a person loves to show off these three things, he is trying to flatter you. Because the more you show off something, the more he wants to get something, and you will hurt him in the end.
1. Show off your connections
“Be low-key in life, and be high-key in doing things.”
Some people like to show off their connections in their circle of friends, saying who is their connection, or what their background is.
Such people just want to satisfy their inner sense of superiority and find a platform for themselves to speak.
Really powerful people are low-key because they don’t need to prove anything to others.
If you like to show off your connections, you have already lost. Because others will think you are superficial and have no substance.
Truly capable people often don’t need to show off to others.
They quietly do what they should do and don’t need to let others know how good they are.
Really powerful people know how to focus their time and energy on improving themselves instead of thinking about showing off all day long.
Because they know that showing off does not mean anything to a person, but will cause resentment and disgust to others.
Therefore, a high-level, powerful, and capable person would not bother to show off his connections.
Only those who like to show off their connections, like to flatter people, do not seek advancement, and only want to eat and drink will do this.
2. Show off your abilities
“Never show off what you have, others will always envy you.” — Anonymous
In life, everyone has their shining points and strengths.
But in terms of abilities, don’t show off too much, otherwise it will be counterproductive.
How powerful a person is has nothing to do with the wealth he possesses, but everything to do with his social status and connections.
Therefore, don’t show off your abilities too much, otherwise it will be counterproductive.
My friend Jenny and her husband have been married for several years, and both of them started their own business from scratch.
Jenny’s husband is a technician, and she is responsible for the financial work. Jenny loves to show off her abilities.
She often posts how much money I made, what a big house I bought, what a good car I drove, etc.
She feels that she is very powerful and often shows off to others how much money her husband makes.
Unexpectedly, she was involved in a traffic accident because he loved to show off too much and was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Showing off your abilities will not only make others envy you but will make them jealous and hate you. Showing off your abilities will only make others look down on you more.
3. Show off your achievements
“Only by having self-confidence can you achieve great things, and by having the courage to accept challenges can you achieve success.” — Anonymous
If a person is always showing off his achievements, then he is flattering you.
He threatens you with his achievements, making you fearful and thus lose the motivation to move forward.
Just like some people who are not that great, but always like to say they are some big shot. If it were not for some reason,
Then they will be looked down upon.
Such people have no self-confidence, feel that they are not worthy of comparison with others, and cannot accept being looked down upon by others.
Therefore, they will become inferior to themselves.
We must learn to encourage ourselves and not become confident just because of someone else’s words.
Don’t be complacent just because of your achievements. In the eyes of others, it may just be a joke.
Such people have no self-confidence and are always used to relying on others. Over time, they will lose themselves.
