“The Wisdom of Wolves” by Elli Radinger: 3 amazing “laws of wolves”, learn to benefit for a lifetime
In the world, there is a group of fanatical “wolf lovers”.
German writer Ellie Lainger is one of the most typical members.
In order to get close to the wolf, she quit her stable and high-paying job as a lawyer and went to Wolf Park in Indiana, USA, for further studies.
Later, he traveled to the wilds of Minnesota to get up close and personal with wild wolves.
After countless life-threatening moments, Ellie discovered that the wolf is an animal full of emotion and intelligence.
She wrote a book called “The Wisdom of Wolves” about her dancing with wolves.
I hope to use this book to give us some inspiration about survival.
-1-The Law of Symbiosis
In the book, Ellie tells a story that has left her with so much emotion.
In April 2013, she traveled to Lamar Valley as an observer.
In a cave, she found a 5-day-old female Lamar wolf and 4 adorable pups.
On this day, 16 ferocious Molly wolves suddenly rushed into the valley and attacked the Lamar wolf pack.
Because of her weakness, the wolf mother fell into the siege of Molly Wolf even though she ran desperately.
It was forced up a steep mountain, and what awaited her was either jumping off a cliff to her death or a fight.
At the critical moment, a young she-wolf suddenly ran from a distance, successfully attracted the attention of Molly Wolf, and led them to the other side of the valley.
This she-wolf, a long-distance runner in the Lamar group, not only escaped the pursuit with ease but also dazed the intruder around in the familiar habitat.
In the end, Molly Wolf lost his way in the valley and had to give up the attack.
Just imagine, if the young she-wolf didn’t come forward, the Lamar wolf pack would likely be wiped out, and she might lose her home.
Ellie says:
“In a wolf pack, each wolf will do its best to protect the other members, and they are born with this ability.”
Every wolf in a wolf pack is born with a sense of “symbiosis” and a pattern of “altruism”.
Looking back at ourselves, can we always think about others?
The Tao Te Ching says:
“If you think of others, you will have more of yourself; if you think of others, you will have more of yourself.”
To help others is to help ourselves; what we do for others will eventually be rewarded to ourselves.
Inamori Kazuo said in “The Law of Living”:
“In this universe, if there is an altruistic wind blowing, it will push everything forward continuously for the better.”
Really smart people don’t only care about themselves, they know that everything is good for others, and it is also good for themselves.
We live in a crowd, just like wolves live in a pack of wolves, we all need to bridge each other and achieve each other.
-2-Law of the Jungle
In 1895, Darwin put forward the biological evolution theory of “natural selection, survival of the fittest” in “The Origin of Species”.
This theory is particularly evident in the territorial dispute among wolves.
In Ellie’s book, she describes a brutal turf war between wolves.
It was a fierce battle in Yellowstone between Druid wolves and swamp wolves.
That day, 16 druid wolves suddenly rushed into Yellowstone Park. They swam across the icy river, rushed up the steep hillside, and fanned out.
Hearing the wolf howl of the alpha wolf, all the druid wolves turned into hot-blooded warriors and rushed towards the swamp wolves.
After hours of fighting, the druid wolves won the turf, but the swamp wolves were completely defeated with few survivors.
Regarding this border war, Ellie analyzed that the druid wolves maintained high-intensity training all year round, while the swamp wolves lost their ability to fight in a comfortable environment.
The deadly territorial battle between wolves tells us once again: the law of the jungle, the law of the jungle, has always existed in every corner of the world.
The strong are kings, the weak are bandits, and only the strong can survive.
In real life, the law of the jungle is more reflected in our competition with the living environment.
When the times are galloping forward, some people are willing to be weak in their comfort zone, and they panic until they are abandoned by society;
But there are also people who are always vigilant, constantly renewing themselves, and living a strong life in life.
In 2018, Some states decided to abolish road and bridge toll stations, and many people faced unemployment overnight. One of the female employees cried to the leader:
“I’m 36 this year, and my youth has been handed over to the toll booth. I can’t do anything now, and I can’t learn anything.”
As soon as this statement came out, netizens shouted: pitiful and sad!
Rather than handing over her youth to the toll booth, it is better to say that she spent her youth in comfort day after day.
“Natural selection is bound to come, if you are not superior, you will be inferior. If you don’t wake up, you will die.”
In the limited survival territory, only more brave wolves can earn territory;
In a human society full of competition, only those who continue to become stronger will have more ways to go in the future.
-3-Law of order
Writer Pasternak said:
“Life is a huge arena where you can fight for victory, but you must honestly abide by the rules of the game.”
There is no square without rules, and there are rules without order. This is the law of the operation of all things in nature.
In “The Wisdom of Wolves”, Ellie talks about the order in the wolf family.
She said: in the wolf pack, the elders and the younger are orderly, the division of labor is clear, all members perform their duties, and their daily life is orderly.
Every wolf pack has a “consensus” that they will not only raise their cubs together but also provide for older or injured wolves.
When walking through the valley, the young and middle-aged men among the wolves were at the forefront, followed by the alpha wolf couple, followed by the old and weak women and children.
Whenever there is danger, the alpha wolf as the leader will judge the situation and issue orders to guide everyone to tide over the difficulties.
For the most part, wolves played by the rules, but there was one exception, which, in Ellie’s words, was “a big hit.”
At that time, there was a druid wolf, which drove away its mother and sister, hurt other members, and even *killed several cubs.
This wolf broke the rule of “unity and no fighting” in the wolf pack, and its fate was also very tragic.
It was attacked by other wolves and was finally killed alive.
Rules are not only a kind of restraint but also a kind of protection. Ignoring the rules is tantamount to ignoring life.
Some time ago, news about “ Woman who has Benz breaking into the community” caused an uproar in society.
The female driver not only ignored the regulations of the community’s routine inspection, resolutely refused to cooperate with the temperature measurement, but also scolded the staff.
In the face of everyone’s dissuasion, she became even more arrogant, threatening: “I don’t want the car, what’s wrong with you, get out!”
She then tried to drive in and threatened the security guard to sue him for indecent assault.
Those who ignore or even break the rules will eventually be punished by the rules.
The Mercedes driver was eventually placed in administrative detention on charges of obstructing official duties.
She was originally the boss of a company. After her own affairs were exposed, she might have suffered greater economic losses.
Her story reminds me of Wu Jun’s words in “Experience”:
“What’s worse than lack of money is lack of rules.”
Whether it is nature or real life, rules are needed everywhere to maintain and stabilize order.
The law of order makes the wolves on the field twist into a rope to resist the cruel living environment; it also enables the orderly operation of human society.
-4-Write at the end
Ellie says:
“The social nature of wolves has always been the focus of research by biologists and psychologists.”
She believes that by observing wolves, humans can learn more about themselves.
Ellie, not only has a strong heart for exploration but also has a compassionate feeling for solving human puzzles.
Before she devoted herself to the study of wolves, she had seen too many people and lived a very unsuccessful life.
Some of them went into desperation because of selfishness;
Some were eliminated from the workplace because they did not want to make progress;
There are also people who cause a lot of harm to society because of breaking the rules.
She was also troubled by the chaos in human society, but all her doubts were found in her more than 20 years of contact with wolves.
She used these laws of nature to take care of ourselves as humans and wrote the book “The Wisdom of Wolves” for us.
I hope you can find your own survival wisdom after reading this book.
May you and I live transparently, stretch our lives, and lighten our souls. Accompany each other’s growth together!
